The Burro Room is the bar at Mi Casa, and it has a calendar of its own. Different days carry different deals, and the prices are low enough that planning your week around them isn't a stretch. This guide walks through the published specials day by day, then looks at where the room itself came from.
Weekday happy hour, 3 to 6 PM
Happy hour runs weekdays from 3 to 6 PM, and it's bar only, so head for the Burro Room. Here are the drinks.
- House Margarita $7, pitcher $24
- Skinny Margarita $8, pitcher $25
- Cadillac Margarita $8
- Paloma $7
- Mexican Candy Shot $6
- Select bottles and drafts $5
- House wine $5, select wines $6
And the food that goes with them.
- Grande Guacamole, Mi Queso, Nachos and Mini-Chimi, $8 each
- Cheese Enchilada and Cheese Quesadilla, $4 each
- Tacos with chicken, beef or ground beef, $5; fish or shrimp, $6
- Taquitos $5 and Soup $5
- Wings $8
For a group, do the math before you pick between glasses and a pitcher. The house pitcher is $24 and a single house margarita is $7. The menu doesn't state the pitcher size, so ask what it pours before you decide.
Tuesday is Taco Tuesday
On Taco Tuesday, tacos are $5, with fish and shrimp at $6. Margaritas are priced to match: house at $7, Cadillac at $8, and skinny or blended at $8. The published list doesn't give separate hours for the day, so call (949) 645-7626 to confirm timing. Tuesday's regular hours run 11:30 AM to 10 PM.
Mi Casa has a track record with tacos. The Orange County Register's Best of OC People's Choice voting named it first place for Best Taco in both 2014 and 2015, and Happy Hour Magazine has named it Best Taco Tuesday.
Wednesday is Cerveza Wednesday
Cerveza Wednesday takes $1 off all pints and bottles of beer. Using the drink menu, a 16 oz draft of Pacifico, Modelo Especial or Dos Equis Amber is listed at $8.45, so a dollar off lands it at $7.45. A bottle of Corona or Negra Modelo, listed at $7.45, comes to $6.45.
The draft list also includes Michelob Ultra and Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, and the bottle list runs from Coors Light to Heineken 0.0 for anyone skipping alcohol. If the table wants beer by the pitcher, the 60 oz pitchers are listed at their regular prices, and the dollar off applies to pints and bottles.
Sunday Funday, until 6 PM
Sunday Funday runs until 6 PM. A Bloody Mary or a Bloody Maria is $6, and you can have either one regular or habanero. A Bloody Maria is the version made with tequila where a Bloody Mary uses vodka. The Cadillac and Skinny Margaritas are $8 each.
Sunday hours are 11 AM to 9 PM, which makes the deal a good fit for a late lunch that turns into an afternoon. Monday through Friday, the 3 to 6 PM happy hour covers the afternoon before the dinner rush, and Friday stays open until 10 PM.
Saturday and the full drink menu
No special is published for Saturday, which makes it the day to explore the full drink menu. Blended margaritas are $12.45 in coconut, guava, mango, passion fruit, peach, pineapple and strawberry. A margarita flight is $25.95 and up, and you pick any three.
In general terms, a Cadillac margarita means a margarita finished with a float of orange liqueur, usually made with a better tequila than the house pour. The Ultimate Cadillac is $14.95 on the drink menu and the Cazadores Cadillac is $15.95.
A little history of the room
The restaurant describes the Burro Room as part of Mi Casa's history and a gathering place for drinks and time with friends. A 2011 makeover brought a new look and draft beer, and press covered it at the time, including the Daily Pilot's story on the Burro Room reopening after its remodel. In 2014 the OC Weekly ran a piece titled "Burrowing Into the Burro Room."
The dining room and bar were updated again in 2025 with new booths, tables and chairs and a more open feel. Photos from the site show a neon sign that reads eat. sleep. tequila. repeat. The restaurant says it loves the big burro photo in the Burro Room, and the mural is the first thing many regulars point to.
Guests mention the people behind the bar too. One regular on the restaurant's own site calls the drinks strong and names Chuck and Diego as great bartenders. Find the Burro Room at 296 E 17th St in Costa Mesa, and check the menu page for the latest specials.
